Cityview, a premier multifamily investment management and development firm, celebrates 20 years in business this year.
“It’s been an incredible experience to be a part of Cityview’s strategic growth over the past two decades, and we look forward to continuing to provide high-quality, attainable housing in the markets we serve while striving to deliver for our investors,” said Sean Burton, CEO of Cityview.
Cityview’s strategic focus is on top-performing Western U.S. markets with strong growth, high barriers to entry and a lack of sufficient supply. The firm currently manages over 6,000 units throughout its Western U.S. target markets. Cityview is currently developing or entitling more than 3,000 units and is set to deliver over 1,000 units this year. Recognized as the decade’s most active multifamily developer in Los Angeles by Los Angeles Business Journal, the firm has invested in more than 130 value-add and development projects to-date.
Over its two decades in business, the firm and its affiliates have grown the team to nearly 150 employees across its various verticals, including acquisitions, development, construction management, asset management and property management. Cityview’s employee-focused company culture, industry-leading expertise, transparent communication style and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion make it one of the industry’s best places to work.
“I am extremely proud of the team we’ve built at Cityview,” said Burton. “Our growth and success over the years is a true testament to their deep industry knowledge, hard work and dedication.”
Throughout its 20-year history, Cityview has strategically pivoted to meet the needs of the marketplace and capitalize on opportunities. During the 2008-2009 recession, Cityview shifted its focus from for-sale housing to multifamily—forecasting a growing need for this product type as the renter pool continued to expand amidst the growing housing shortage.
To further bolster its niche in the multifamily marketplace, Cityview moved to a vertically integrated model. By directly overseeing the investment, development, asset management, construction management and property management of its properties, Cityview creates efficiencies, leverages proprietary data and maintains complete control over the end-product—with the intent of benefiting investors, residents and communities.
